JoCasta Zamarripa, Emerge Wisconsin Class of 2010, was born and raised in the City of Milwaukee. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). Currently, she is working as a Community Outreach Coordinator and Educator at Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.

A true progressive, Zamarripa worked to defeat the ban on same-sex marriage, in 2006, on the Fair Wisconsin campaign. In 2008, she worked with 9to5 to win Paid Sick Days in the city of Milwaukee. In the spring of 2008, Zamarripa made her first bid for elected office when she ran for Common Council in Milwaukee. She came in 3rd out of 5 candidates, garnering 10% of the vote. A candidate for the 8th Assembly District this year, Zamarripa is certain she is the right choice to represent her community. She is passionate about voter engagement and organizing the Latino community to get out and vote.
