Lynn Goya
Lynn Goya grew up on a dairy farm in eastern Iowa where she learned the values of hard work, honesty and standing by your word. After graduating, she moved to Long Island, commuting to New York City to work in the basement of the Empire State Building. A few years later, she moved west and attended San Diego State University. She graduated cum laude with B.A. degrees in English and Economics and won the department's highest award, the Frederick L. Ryan Award in Economics.
Lynn and her husband, Alan, started a children's theater company that performed in Old Town and at the San Diego Zoo before starting a family and getting "real jobs." They moved to Boulder City in 1994 where they have worked and raised their three children and been an integral part of the community.
Lynn has written several books and hundreds of print and online articles promoting tourism to rural and urban Nevada. As a journalist, she covers everything from the arts, to the building industry and the environment.
In addition to her writing, Lynn uses her research and investigative skills to identify problems and find solutions. As PTA president of Martha P. King Elementary School she saw firsthand the issues that face children and teachers. She founded the Youth Advocacy Council and immediately began to pull together the parties needed to create a safe drop-off Zone for elementary school children.
In 2007 Lynn founded the Nevada Green Team to bring together environmentalists, green products, architects, legislators and citizens to work toward a more sustainable community.
Lynn is devoted to her family and has a profound love of her community, state and country. She would be honored to represent the residents of Assembly District 20.
