Darcie Green

Commission on the Status of Women, Emerge California, Class of 2009

Darcie Green is a field representative in the office of Assemblymember Joe Coto where she works on public policy issues affecting disenfranchised communities. On top of being a college student, she is currently the Chair of the non-profit Somos Mayfair, Vice-Chair of the Santa Clara County Commission of the Status of Women, and Board Member for the democratic group DAWN.

Darcie started out volunteering as a grassroots youth organizer working towards empowering neighborhoods around quality of life issues. While working for the San Jose City Council in 1999, she gained knowledge of the inner-workings of local public policy and budget and used that knowledge to help bring City redevelopment dollars to her neighborhood.

Darcie has also worked towards bettering our community by managing two San Jose City Council campaigns and by running an after school program for at risk youth. Before moving into the Legislature, she was the campaign coordinator for Joe Coto's Assembly campaign. While working for Coto, Darcie was also a strong candidate for the Alum Rock Union Board of Trustees.
