Nancy is passionate about many issues, including mankind's impact on the environment at the local and global levels, the right to quality healthcare, a lifelong broad-based education, as well as human rights and equality. She also advocates for voting rights protections, a fair tax code, job training opportunities and workplace and consumer protections.

Nancy collaborated with other residents on the Comprehensive Plan Review Committee for the Town of Hampden, and convinced neighbors in Illinois to discontinue the use of pesticides on their lawns. Her activism has led her to work at an international level to promote and expand the arts, worked to develop an English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) Biology & Physical Science program for Japanese students, advocate for consumer and civil rights and protections, and volunteer on political campaigns.

She received her Bachelor of Biology and Masters in Environmental Sciences from the University of Maine Orono and has lived in Massachusetts, Thailand and Illinois.
